Nearly five months after its release on the PS4 and PS5, Sony has released a new game plus mode (NG+) for Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarök. The title is PlayStation’s fastest-selling first-party game, having sold 5.1 million copies in its first week of release. The new game plus lets players keep their game unlocks from the previous save.
In God of War Ragnarök’s New Game Plus (NG+), all skills and weapons, including the menacing Draupnir Spear, are available from the start. Unfortunately, the Sonic and Hex arrows not available from the beginning. Players can unlock the arrows only when they reach the point in the main questline where the weapons are available.
Players who want to jump in on Kratos’ and Atreus’ journey from the beginning of the new game plus will have access to new armour. The Armour of the Black Bear that gives Kratos a boost in strength and defence is available from the start. A new Spartan Armour that is locked at level 1 can be acquired at the Huldra Brothers’ Shop with some Hacksilver. Sony is bringing back the Ares and Zeus armours from 2018’s God of War. The Ares Armour is available at the Huldra Brothers’ Shop, while the Zeus Armour can only be unlocked by defeating Gná, the Valkyrie Queen and completing select Remnants of Asgard quests on a NG+ save.
A new shield, Spartan Aspis, like the Guardian Shield, is also available at the Huldra Brothers’ Shop. Existing armours can be remixed in new ways, while a new Berserker amour appearance can be unlocked after defeating the Berserker King in the new game plus mode. The NG+ makes enemies more difficult with an increased level cap. There are new enhancements and new progression paths, and the Niflheim Arena has also been expanded.
All these updates, including a new black-and-white render mode, are all available in the NG+ mode on God of War Ragnarök.
