Despite the US government’s economic blacklist on Friday, Chinese drone company DJI says people in the US will still be able to buy and use its drones in the US. DJI, the largest drone company in the world was added to the entity list by the US government’s Commerce Department preventing the Chinese company from trading with US companies.
“DJI is disappointed in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s decision. Customers in America can continue to buy and use DJI products normally,” DJI said in a statement to The Verge. “DJI remains committed to developing the industry’s most innovative products that define our company and benefit the world.”
The Chinese company did not comment further on what the ban means for its company and its consumers. DJI is an industry leader which means its technology is used by many companies globally, the company also has a special line of products for the government in its enterprise offerings.
The US concern over national security issue and the increased tensions with China have been looming over DJI’s presence in the US for a while. DJI is estimated to have a 77% market share of drones in the States.
