You can now access ChatGPT via WhatsApp, but it is limited to text-only input. To get started, you must add 1-800-ChatGPT (1-800-242-8478) to your contact list, and you will start chatting with the chatbot over Meta’s WhatsApp. The chatbot will provide answers like the regular ChatGPT app, but you are limited to text-only inputs. The feature is available on WhatsApp in all places where ChatGPT is accessible, and no account is required.
To help users get more out of ChatGPT for WhatsApp, OpenAI is working on ways to authenticate with their ChatGPT account to access additional features like chatting with images, using Search, and many more.
In a related development, OpenAI has also launched a ChatGPT hotline in the U.S. and Canada. The number to call is 1-800-242-8478, and this service works on all kinds of phones. For now, OpenAI offers 15 minutes per month of voice calling via the hotline, and the service is toll-free. To get the whole ChatGPT experience, people must log in directly to their ChatGPT accounts.
“We are just getting started making ChatGPT more accessible to all of you,” said Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s chief product officer, during the company’s most recent 12 Days of OpenAI livestream. As part of the recent livestreams, the company announced the rollout of ChatGPT Search to free users and launched Sora, its video-generation product.
