Activision today officially revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War after revealing a cryptic teaser trailer last week. Developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, the game is set for a November 13 release on current-gen platforms including the PC and a holiday 2020 release on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
The game follows last year’s Modern Warfare and it features a Warzone continuation. It has the regular single-player campaign, a new multiplayer and Zombies mode.
- Campaign: Black Ops Cold War will drop fans into the depths of the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. Nothing is ever as it seems in a gripping single-player Campaign, where players will come face-to-face with historical figures and hard truths, as they battle around the globe through iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet KGB headquarters and more.
- Multiplayer: Bring a Cold War arsenal of weapons and equipment into the next generation of Multiplayer in Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War. Engage in deniable operations as an elite operative using state of the art tools of the tradecraft across a variety of experiences from small skirmishes to all out, vehicle-fueled warfare.
- Zombies: Uncover dark Cold War experiments that unleash a new Zombie threat to take on in frightening and intense co-operative gameplay with friends.
Sony is selling a cross-gen bundle of the game which costs $69.99, $10 more than the standard edition. The bundle allows players get the PS4 edition and also download the PS5 version made for next-gen consoles for free when it comes out. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will have a cross-play support across current-gen and next-gen consoles, players will be able to pause and resume gameplay on the PS4/PS5 or Xbox One X/S/Series X on all modes. Seasonal battle pass is guaranteed and there is an integration with Warzone which will allow players keep their Modern Warfare content such as acquired weapons and skins.
Those who pre-order the game will get Operator Frank Woods and an assault rifle Weapon Blueprint for immediate use in Modern Warfare and Warzone. They will also get access to the Open Beta (beta dates have not been revealed but Sony claims it is first coming to the PS4).
