You will now be able to purchase Xiaomi phones on Jumia as from Thursday, the 15th March, 2018. In an exclusive deal, 4 mid-range Xiaomi smartphones – Redmi Note 5a, Redmi Note 5a Prime, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus were unveiled and will be available for purchase in limited quantities on Jumia.
Until today, Nigerians and some other African countries could only purchase Xiaomi smartphones on popular Chinese e-commerce website gearbest since they deliver to the country. The phones may now be available for sale on Jumia but questions are being raised as to repair centres and spare parts should the phones develop faults.
Speaking on the deal, Jumia Nigeria CEO, Juliet Anammah said, “I am confident that Xiaomi’s success in other markets will be replicated in Nigeria – as it was in India and Indonesia – as a result of the depth of their understanding of exactly what the Nigerian customers need as regards the functionality and durability of a smartphone.”
Orders can be made now and interested buyers will get their devices when Jumia Mobile Week begins on the 15th of this month. Like every year, there will be massive phone deals on Jumia Mobile Week which is scheduled to last through till the 25th March, 2018.
