BlackBerry Mercury Running on Android Will Be Launched on February 25th at the MCW

Among many devices expected to be launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on the 25th of this month such as the Nokia P1 and some premium phones by Huawei is the BlackBerry Mercury. According to reports, the ‘Mercury’ might actually be a code with the official name of the device set to be announced at its launching. It is also said the device will be the last BlackBerry phone with a physical keyboard

The BlackBerry Mercury spots a QWERTY keyboard like the old rugged Blackberry Bold series and has a 4.5 inches display screen with a 1080p display resolution. TCL, the new owners of the BlackBerry will be realising the device and it will be running on Android 7.0 Nougat with a powerful Snapdragon 635 octa-core processor. A 3GB RAM is expected with a 32GB internal memory which is expandable via the SDcard slot.

The BlackBerry Mercury comes with an 18MP rear camera as well as an 8MP front camera. It has a fingerprint sensor in front. It will be powered by a 3400mAh battery capacity.

In an official statement by TCL, it said, The latest BlackBerry smartphone is focused on three core features: security, productivity and reliability. Previewed at CES, the smartphone draws on unparalleled mobile security and software expertise to offer the most complete end-to-end smartphone security available on Android.

This seems to be a step in the right direction if the BlackBerry brand is to rise again and we await to see what more TCL has to offer. The price of the device will also be announced at its official launch.
