Apple unveiled its iPhone 11 and the Pro iPhones last month with a starting price of $699 and $1099. Even though the new phones come with new and improved features, not everyone could afford it. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF Securities, the Cupertino based company will be releasing an iPhone SE 2 in the first quarter of 2020 at $399.
Kuo expects the iPhone SE 2 to share a similar design with the iPhone 8 which currently retails for $499. The upcoming device is expected to ship with 3GB RAM and will be coming in two storage options – a 64GB and 128GB. Like the iPhone 11, it will be having no 3D touch but will be powered with the latest Apple A13 Bionic chip.
The first and only iPhone SE till date was launched by Apple in 2016 for $399, the upcoming SE 2 will certainly appeal to consumers since Apple will be retaining the same retail price. It will be coming with three colour options – silver, space gray and red.
Kuo’s predictions have been proven correct many times and he was the first to predict the iPhone XR which Apple’s says is the most popular iPhone of the year. On the iPhone SE 2, Kuo believes Apple has told suppliers to produce between 2-4 million units per month. Being a relatively cheap iPhone, Apple is expected to sell more than 30 million units when the device is launched across 2020.
