The release of IOS 12 Gold Master (GM) is just around the corner. The IOS 12 GM is expected to launch by Apple on 12th September 2018. The release of the 12 GM is expected to be the last version of IOS software to be released by Apple before the new set of iPhones is launched. Let us take a little look into what Gold Master (GM) actually means.
GM – Gold Master is a final version of IOS software release, which is strictly designed and recommended for tech – experts i.e. the software developers and testers. This is so it can be reviewed thoroughly by the experts before the software version is launched into the open market. These experts’ review(s) are made essential, just in case the manufacturing firm, Apple, runs into last-minute bugs, glitches or technical issues. In this case, the firm has plenty of time to make the necessary adjustments, before making it available to the end users.
According to the recent reports by Apple on soon to be launched software version, the IOS 12 will enhance performance on devices like iPhone 6+, among other supported devices. Furthermore, as reported by Apple, the IOS 12 update will be available to all Apple devices, currently running on IOS 11 and above. This means that even older Apple devices like the iPhone 5s will also receive the IOS 12 update.
Needless to say much about the IOS 12 features, as they are endless and the inherent benefits are exhaustive. However, it is possible for Apple to remove one or more of the anticipated features, from the IOS 12.
Apple, according to recent reports, will skip out on one confirmed feature, upon release. The Group Face-time calling feature will be missing in the IOS 12, which will be removed from the previous IOS 12 Beta version. However, Apple has made it known that the Group Face-time calling feature, would be recalled and made available to the later version, to be released after the IOS 12, which is the IOS 12.X.
It is important to note that, Apple can still remove more features, apart from the already confirmed removal of Group Face-Time feature. However, any removed feature(s) on a particular IOS version is usually made available to the later version(s). So let us keep our fingers crossed, while patiently awaiting the final release of the IOS 12 Gold Master.
Upon the release of the IOS 12 GM, which according to reports is expected to happen in a little over a week (about 8 – 9 days time), registered software developers and developers on Apple’s IOS platform can go ahead and download/install the IOS 12 GM version, provided they have the previous version: IOS 12 Beta already installed on their device. The IOS 12 GM update will go for about $99 on the Apple platform.
As earlier stated, the anticipated release date, from all indications, appears to be the 12th of this month, which is roughly 8 days away. Hence, it is important for all iPhone users (who intends to upgrade to the IOS 12) to make the necessary preparations ahead, as we wait for the big day. Make sure you back up all important files on your device (videos, pictures, music, documents and so on) using iCloud or iTunes (for MP3 files).
Save the date: 12th September 2018. That is the expected release date of the much anticipated IOS 12 Gold Master (GM).
