One thing one must understand in going into the abyss that is what women want from men is that ultimately the only one that matters in figuring the answer to this question is the woman you want to be with. Only what Naija baby want matters. On a deeper personal level that is. Everything else is just common decency.

But you are here and you want some answers to this age-long question. Well, fasten your seat belt. We curated some of the ideas Nigerian women have shared on the timeline and found the top 7 types of guys Nigerian girls want.

Types of Guys Nigerian Girls Want

  1. The Safe Guy

No. This doesn’t mean the backup option they keep while they explore other options. This is referring to their personal security. Nigerian women are daily under constant stress and fear of being physically harassed. A daily mental toll of caution every time they are out of their house. You just need to pick up a newspaper to see for yourself. Girls want a guy they feel safe around. One they don’t have to visit or have a late night hangout with and keep looking around their environment looking for possible exits should things get dangerous.

  1. The Romantic Guy

Outward displays of love are just as important as the internal acknowledgements. Some Naija girls love a guy who can make them shed happy tears with romantic gestures like a well-written letter or a home-cooked dinner in a romantic setting. If you watched any movie in the early 2000s, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Romance keeps the fire burning and certain Nigerian girls want a man who never shies away from stoking the fire.

  1. The Feminist

Similar to being a safe guy is some women’s need to have a man who has removed the robe of patriarchy and adorned the garment of feminism. Some Nigerian women are quite passionate about gender rights and equality (everyone should be) and they seek this values out in potential partners. If you still prefer the patriarchal ice age, you cannot sit with them. If you doubt it, just spend 10 minutes on Nigerian Twitter. Unfortunately, this has created a group of virtue signalists who only express their feminism in words but not in action just to get in bed with these women but there have been more hits than misses when it comes to this hardline.

  1. The Sugar Daddy

Sure, the name suggests older men with pot belly dating their daughter’s age mates but it isn’t limited to them. It is for men who can provide and take care of every of the woman’s needs and all she has to do is figure out how best to enjoy it. A sugar daddy doesn’t need to have children to be Daddy. He just needs money. Unfortunately, this conflicts with the reality feminists desire seeing as sugar daddies tend to be evangelists of the Patriarchy gospel but baby got needs and gender equality ain’t gonna pay them. If you are up to the task, just log on onto Instagram. Dem full there.

  1. The Intellectual

Bookworms and polymaths, gather around. There are a group of women who want you. In a country of over 40 million women, you are bound to find diversity in interests and desires and in this large group of heavenly blessings reside a fraction that wants their man to be smart and knowledgeable. Money doesn’t get their juices flowing as much as a well-articulated explanation of a social problem. They want men who can make love to their mind. Ever seen someone with sapiosexual in their bio? Exactly.

  1. The Idris Elba

Sometimes they just want the physical. They are not trying to be deep. Women just want to orgasm and someone to show off on IG. The physical specimen. The ideal male body. Toned skin, muscled arms and six packs. To these group of Nigerian women, your financial status isn’t a priority. Your body is.

  1. The Religious

You’ve heard of the term ‘god-fearing’ and most Nigerian women usually mean someone who has human decency and respect for others. But there are a group of Nigerian women who emphasize the God part of that word. If you are not a believer, you can’t even be friends. They take their religion seriously and any potential partner must too.

There are many things that a Nigerian woman would want in a potential partner and when you are interested in particular one, you should definitely find that out and see if you fit. It is also important to note that you don’t have to be one of these things, you can be two or more. And if you cant, I hope you find the Nigerian women who only care about the singular thing you have to offer.
