Netflix’s recently concluded Stranger Things 4 has now racked up more than a billion hours viewed becoming only the second title ever to do so. The fourth season of the hit show premiered on May 27th with seven episodes before Netflix dropped the second installment containing the last two episodes on July 1st.

This past weekend, Stranger Things 4 pulled in 301.28 million hours viewed becoming the most viewed title and, in the process, earning a place in the Top 10 in 93 countries, Netflix says. Squid Game was the first to achieve the 1 billion hours viewed feat in 2021 and remains the company’s most viewed show ever with 1.65 billion hours viewed. Coming in second place over the weekend is the third season of The Umbrella Academy with 87.98 million hours viewed. Fans of the show also revisited the first and second seasons which racked in 32.84 million hours and 20.3 million hours respectively.

Netflix counts a show’s viewing hours in its first 28 days of release after which the numbers are no longer added. The final two episodes of Stranger Things have a runtime of approximately four hours and the show could eventually take the top spot of the total hours viewed ever on Netflix.

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will be released in 2024 and will be shorter than the fourth season.
