The success of Clubhouse meant it was only a matter of time before we started seeing rival apps. Twitter and Facebook have already come up with their own similar live-audio social network, today Spotify has announced the launch of its own similar service called Greenroom.
Greenroom is available today on Android and iOS in 135 markets where Spotify is available but the app will only be available in English language for now. The is a redesign of Locker Room which Spotify took over thanks to its acquisition of Betty Labs in March. On Greenroom, people will be able to discuss music, sports, culture and many other social topics live.
Existing Spotify users can log into the app with their details but new users can also sign up on the app. The app shares Spotify’s green-and-black design colour scheme. Spotify has been able to add some new features to the app and users can now record their live audio sessions in order to share as podcasts.
Spotify is also launching a Creator Fund this summer so people on the app can get paid. While not much is known about it at the moment, it will be open to anyone and Spotify will be hoping to get popular creators on Greenroom through the fund.
