Sony has sold more than 30 million PlayStation 5 consoles to date, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan announced during the company’s CES 2023 presentation. The sales figure represents a 5 million increase since the company released its November sales report.

Despite increasing the price of the PS5 console across various markets in August, Ryan said supply for the console improved towards the end of last year and that “December was the biggest month ever for PS5 console sales.” The PlayStation chief also confirmed that the PS5 console shortage is over. He said, “everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward.”

Sony has taken over two years to solve the PS5 supply constraint. Ryan expressed gratitude to the PlayStation fans for their patience and support as the company “managed unprecedented demand amid global challenges over the past two years.”

With the disc and digital edition of the PlayStation 5 now available, Sony might be ready to move on from cross-gen first-party titles and finally make full use of the PlayStation 5’s technical capabilities for its upcoming games.
