Motorola has released two new mid-range devices – the Moto G Stylus and Moto G8 Power. Both devices come with a 6.4” display and are powered by a Snapdragon 665 chipset.
Moto G Stylus
Moto G Stylus comes with an in-built stylus which is housed in the bottom-left corner of the phone, the first of its kind from Motorola. The stylus pen is different from the famous Samsung’s Note series as it doesn’t come with pressure sensitivity and Bluetooth functionality. The Moto G Stylus’ pen is pretty basic and can be used to make sketches and jot down notes on the pre-installed Moto Note app.
The device ships Android 10 out of the box with Moto Actions. It is powered by a. Snapdragon 665 chipset on top of a 4GB RAM and a 128GB internal memory which is expandable via the micro SD slot.
In terms of display, the smartphone comes with a 6.4-inch IPS display with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and an FHD+ resolution. The 16MP selfie camera is housed by the punch-hole cut-out which is found in the top-left corner of the display. But
It has a triple rear camera setup with a 48MP main shooter, a 16MP ultrawide angle lens and a 2MP macro sensor with a 2cm focus distance. The Moto logo at the back houses the fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 5.0 and a Hybrid Dual SIM slot which houses 2 Nano SIM cards or one SIM and a microSD card. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery which is charged via its USB Type-C.
It is coming to the US market this Spring at a retail price of $299. Availability for other markets is not made known yet.
Moto G8 Power
Moto G8 Power has same display and resolution with the G Stylus bit it comes with dual speakers.
It has a quad-camera setup at the back with a 16MP main shooter, an 8MP ultrawide angle lens with a 118-degree field of view, an 8MP telephoto lens with 2X Optical Zoom and 2MP macro sensor. Its 16MP selfie camera is housed by the punch-hole cutout.
It is powered by Android 10 as well and the same Snapdragon 665 chipset as the Moto G Stylus. It has a 4GB RAM and a 64GB internal storage which is expandable further by the microSD card. Motorola says it has water repellent features but the IP rating is not clear.
In terms of power, Moto G8 Power has a 5000mAh battery and it’s packaged with an 18W charger. It has a rear fingerprint sensor on the Moto logo and same connectivity features as the G Stylus.
The smartphone will be available in the Spring in two colours – Smoke Black and Capri Blue. Its retail price in the US is $249 and it is also expected to arrive in the UK soon. Pre-orders are already up on Amazon for £114.
