Effective October 3rd, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Series S consoles will see an increase in prices in the US yet again. The announcement is surprising since the company only recently increased the prices of its consoles and accessories across all markets in May. This time, the price increase of the Xbox consoles only affects the US market, and the prices of controllers and headsets will remain the same.

Microsoft says the latest price hike in the US is due to “changes in the macroeconomic environment.” In May, the price of the Xbox Series X was raised to $599; it will now retail for $649.99, while the Xbox Series S has now jumped from $379.99 to $399.99.

Pricing on the 1TB Xbox Series S model is jumping from $429.99 to $449.99, while the digital edition of the Xbox Series X will now retail for $599.99. In May, pricing on the 2TB Xbox Series X Galaxy Black Special Edition was raised to $729.99; from October 3rd, it will now retail for $799.99.

Microsoft says it understands that “these changes are challenging” but that it will “continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and proving value for Xbox players.”
