Instagram is introducing “Suggested Posts”; a new way to show posts from accounts you do not follow. After you’ve reached the end of your feed, posts from accounts you do not follow will start showing up on your screen and you can keep scrolling further.
Prior to the introduction of the new feature, Instagram only show posts from accounts you follow on your feeds. When you’ve seen all posts from every account within the past two days, a “You’re All Caught Up” message appears on your screen below a marker. Suggested Posts will now give you the option to continue seeing more posts on your feed.
Suggested Posts will be related to posts from accounts you follow, unlike the Explore page which shows a totally different and broad content. Head of Product at Instagram Home, Julian Gutman told TheVerge ads will also show up in Suggested Posts. Only photos and videos shared on the feed will appear and there will no Reels or IGTV content.
Gutman says the “concept came from a vision a couple years ago around people really seeing feed as a place for their interests,” and the goal was to bring a personalized relevance to users with the help of machine learning. “We just want to make it really easy for people to see that [relevant content] when they get to the end of their feed. That’s really the motivation here, make it easier for you to go deeper on your interest.”
