On Friday, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced a new “Watch History” feature that basically lets you go back to see all your previously watched Reels. The company says that Watch History was highly requested, hence, it’s rolling it out to all users.
“Have you ever tried to get back to a reel that you’d seen on Instagram, and you just can’t find it?,” Mosseri said in a Reels announcement. “Well, there is a new feature that should help. If you go to ‘Profile’ and under ‘Settings,’ under ‘Your ‘Activity,’ there’s Watch History now, so you can see every reel that you’ve ever watched.”
With Watch History, users can easily go back to find all Reels they have accidentally closed or refreshed. The feature stores all watched Reels in a single place. Users can filter by oldest to newest, by accounts, and by date. A user can also remove Reels from their Watch History if they do not want them there.
The feature brings Instagram on par with rival TikTok, which has had the same feature for more than 2 years. Compared to TikTok, Instagram’s Watch History is much more flexible due to its sorting options, which include chronological order or by the oldest.
