Infinix NOTE Edge 5G Review: Built for Nigerians with 5-Year Security and 5G Speed

Infinix NOTE Edge 5G REVIEW

In today’s Nigerian smartphone market, we often have to choose between a phone that looks premium and one that actually lasts through a day of heavy use. Usually, if you want a premium 5G device with a curved screen, you have to be ready for a high budget. However, Infinix is breaking that rule with the new Infinix NOTE Edge.

As the world’s first smartphone to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G chipset, the NOTE Edge arrives in Nigeria with a 3D-curved screen, impressive performance, eSIM support, a long-lasting battery, and advanced AI features. After putting the blue variant to the test for over seven days, here is my review on whether it is truly the best gadget investment for your money in 2026.

Design and Build: Slim, Strong, and Stylish

The first thing you’ll notice when you hold the Infinix NOTE Edge is how light and premium it feels. Even with its large battery, it’s remarkably thin, and the 3D-curved back allows it to sit comfortably in your palm; it doesn’t feel heavy at all. The ultra-thin bezels make the display look wide and immersive.

The blue colour is particularly beautiful, catching the light like a piece of jewelry. According to Infinix, the back design was inspired by the optical depth of cat-eye stones. The finish shines and shifts when light hits it, giving the device a very classy, high-end look.

Display: Sharp Visuals That Protect Your Eyes

The phone features a 3D-curved display with a 1.5K resolution, meaning pictures and videos look incredibly clear and “pop” off the screen. The 4500-nit peak brightness is a lifesaver; you can use the phone under the hot sun and still read your messages perfectly without squinting. Infinix made the black borders around the edges so thin that the screen feels like it’s floating.

Durability is also a priority here. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, designed to handle any rough handling of the device during daily use. To top it off, the phone has an IP65 rating, making it resistant to dust and splashes of water. For gamers, the 120 Hz refresh rate and high-speed touch sampling ensure there is no lag during fast-paced matches. It also includes Eye-Care technology to reduce blue light, ensuring your eyes don’t feel strained during late-night scrolling.

Performance

If you like a phone that responds fast without hanging, you will appreciate the Infinic NOTE Edge processor. In terms of performance, the phone uses the new MediaTek Dimensity 7100 5G chip. It is fast and smooth for browsing, yet manages power efficiently. With 8GB of built-in RAM and an additional 8GB via memory fusion, you can keep many apps running in the background without the phone slowing down. For your photos, videos, and apps, you get 128GB of storage, which is plenty of space.

Whether you are moving between WhatsApp, Instagram, and banking apps, the experience is smoother than most phones in this price range. During my review moving around Lagos, the 5G performance was outstanding, delivering incredibly fast internet speeds. It offers 5G speeds at a price point usually seen for older 4G phones. According to Infinix, it worked with MediaTek on 13 different optimizations to make sure the 5G signal is strong and stable.

For gamers, the GPU is strong enough to run titles like Honour of Kings or PUBG at up to 90 fps. Impressively, the phone stays relatively cool even during extended gaming sessions.

Software and AI Features

For the operating system, the Infinix NOTE Edge runs on Android 16 and comes with a very impressive promise: you get 3 years of Android OS updates and 5 years of security updates. This is a big deal for phone users in Nigeria, and it shows that Infinix listens to customer feedback. The new XOS 16 brings a fresh look called “Glow Space,” where the icons and menus use light and shadow to look more lifelike. The animations are smoother than ever, and the 3D depth effect on the home screen makes your wallpapers truly stand out.

The phone is packed with a full Infinix AI Suite that makes life easier without needing extra subscriptions. You get Google Circle to Search, which lets you identify anything on your screen just by circling it, and it can even identify music playing nearby. The AI Eraser does a fantastic job of removing unwanted people or objects from your photos, while the AI Extender can actually expand the edges of a picture. There’s also an AI Wallpaper Generator for a fresh look and AI Noise Reduction that clears up background noise during calls, whether you’re on a regular phone call or using WhatsApp, so both you and the person you’re calling can hear each other perfectly.

The One-Tap Button

One of the coolest additions is the bright green “One-Tap Button” on the right side. It’s a massive time-saver that you can customize to your liking.

You can long-press it to talk to the FOLAX AI, use it as a physical camera shutter, turn on the flashlight, or launch your favorite game with a single click.

Connectivity

Infinix has packed the NOTE Edge with several first-time features that are of great benefit to any user looking for a phone that can handle their daily tasks. The NOTE Edge is the first Infinix phone to support eSIM, which is a huge win for international travelers or anyone who wants the flexibility of having multiple networks without swapping physical SIM cards. I wish I had had this phone when I went to South Africa last month.

Another major game-changer is Touch Transfer. Using NFC technology, you can now simply tap your phone against an iPhone (iPhone 12 or newer) to instantly send photos and videos. This might finally settle the banter between Android and iOS users in the country, as it makes sharing memories effortless regardless of what phone your friends use.

The phone also includes an IR blaster, allowing you to use your smartphone as a universal remote control for your TV, AC, or other home appliances. Other premium additions include the Active Halo Lighting, a stylish glowing ring that pulses softly for notifications or music, and the UPS 3.0 AI Super Signal technology. This ensures your signal stays strong even in areas across the country where the network is usually fluctuating or weak, making it a truly reliable companion.

Battery Performance

The battery life is fantastic. In my testing, I went from morning until night with heavy use and still had 24% battery left by bedtime. This is perfect for users who are always on the move or facing unpredictable power supply. You can go through a long day of work, traffic, and social media without worrying about charging.

Usually, phones with big batteries are heavy, but the Infinix Note Edge is very light. Despite the massive 6150 mAh battery, the phone remains incredibly slim at 7.2 mm.

Charging from 0% to 100% takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes with the included 45W charger. While not as fast as the Infinix Note 60 Pro’s 90W charging, it is more than enough for a quick top-up. The “Self-Healing” technology introduced by Infinix also ensures the battery retains 80% health even after 6 years of use.

Camera Performance

The Infinix NOTE Edge features a 50MP primary camera on the rear, supported by an AI lens that is perfect for snapping a quick photo of your food or taking a portrait for your profile picture, and the images come out crisp and vibrant. One thing you’ll notice is how much detail it captures. The 12MP front-facing camera also does a great job of keeping selfies looking clean and natural.

For social media lovers, the Live Photo Mode is a standout, capturing 3-second motion clips that bring memories to life. You can easily share these as GIFs, post them directly to Instagram, or even set them as your live wallpaper. For better quality in different lighting, Infinix uses an AI RAW algorithm to help clean up your photos and make them sharper.

Final Verdict

The Infinix NOTE Edge is a complete package. With 3 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates, it is a phone designed to last. It also features a curved screen and premium 5G performance at a price that actually makes sense for Nigerians.

While it is a great all-rounder, the camera versatility is a bit basic. The 2x digital zoom loses clarity quickly, and the lack of a dedicated ultrawide lens means landscape lovers might feel limited. However, the phone compensates with an amazing entertainment experience via JBL-tuned dual stereo speakers and 360-degree symmetrical sound.
