The first trailer for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI arrives in “early December.” Rockstar Games made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) following an earlier report from Bloomberg which stated that the game will officially be announced this week.
December marks the 25th anniversary of the company and it plans to release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto game in the same period to celebrate this. The outgoing GTA V was first released in 2013 and has sold more than 185 million copies, making it the second-best-selling video game of all time, behind Minecraft, according to Bloomberg.
“We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto,” the company shared in a statement. “We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.”
Last year, the Rockstar Games suffered a breach from hackers resulting in 90 videos of early work on Grand Theft Auto VI being leaked. The company blamed it on a “network intrusion” but vowed that “our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned.” In August, two British teens were found guilty of the hack by a London jury.
Like 2002’s GTA: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto VI is reportedly set in a fictional version of Miami and players will have the option to play as a female protagonist for the first time in the popular video game series.
