Google is rolling out big changes to summary cards in Gmail to help you stay on top of conversations and events that matter. The feature is getting a new look across purchases, events, bills, travels and new action buttons in Gmail.
With the new update, summary cards in Gmail will now organise and update key information in real-time so you don’t miss anything. Google is also introducing a new “Happening Soon” section at the top of inboxes. Google says purchase summary cards will first appear in the “Happening Soon” section. For example, if you are expecting a delivery and it’s a few days away, the “Happening Soon” section will show the purchase summary card so you can track your package at a glance. If there are multiple expected deliveries, the summary cards will be stacked, and you can expand, dismiss, or click on whichever one you want.
As part of the changes to summary cards in Gmail, you can see upcoming events and add new ones to your calendar. Directly from your inbox, you can invite others and easily see directions to event locations. For travels, you can manage reservations and check-in for flights. All key information will be available at a glance with action buttons such as “Get directions,” “Invite others,” “Track package,” “Check in,” “Remind me,” “Mark as paid,” and many more.
The updated purchase summary card is rolling out for individuals on the Gmail Android and iOS app. The event, bill, and travel summary cards and “Happening soon” will follow suit in the “coming months.”
