Instagram yesterday announced its introducing Geostickers in Instagram stories in a move once again coping Snapchat. The feature which is only available to those in New York and Jarkata for now can be used in the latest update for the app in iOS and Android. It would be recalled Instagram Stories itself also an attempt to copy Snapchat Stories.

In the press release by Instagram, it said, “When you take a photo or video and tap the sticker icon, you’ll see geostickers at the top. No matter where you are in New York City or Jakarta, you’ll see a custom sticker for that city. You may see other stickers appear when you’re visiting select neighborhoods and landmarks — each one is designed to match the vibe of the location it represents.”

It further stated, “You can add as many stickers as you want, adjust their size and placement and mix and match with other creative tools. Just like the customizable location sticker, people watching your story can tap a geosticker to see the location page. Your story won’t show up on the location page itself.”

Users will see a fitting sticker to use no matter where they are in New York and Jarkata. It is expected the Geostickers in Instagram Stories feature will get to everyone in the next few days. Few weeks ago, WhatsApp also got its own stories feature which disappears after 24hours just like in Snapchat.
