If you’ve been following Facebook very well you would remember Mark announced a feature where your loved ones and family can mark themselves and others SAFE in the times of crisis or emergencies, this was called a Safety Check feature. Facebook Community Help started rolling out yesterday and this will go beyond people just marking themselves as safe alone.

Facebook community Help allows actual help to be provided to users in reality. In crisis like earthquakes, flooding or emergencies, users in affected areas will have the option to ‘Find Help’ or ‘Give Help’ to people on Facebook Safety Check page. Helps such as food, shelter, clothing, supplies or any other available service people is willing to render can be provided with the Community Help feature.
People in New Zealand, United States, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia and India will initially have access to the Facebook Community Help feature till it gets to other countries. The countries listed above seems to be the places where most natural disasters happen more than others.
As you may have known, the Safety Check feature only comes alive on Facebook during natural disasters or serious accidental occurrences, this means the Community Help feature will only be available during this time as well. Facebook is always working hard to connect the world even more and the help feature might be available for other ‘little emergencies’ in the future.
