It looks like Twitter will be having a new logo later today. Musk shared a series of tweets on Saturday and tweeted on Sunday that the domain name X.com now points to twitter.com. Musk tweeted late on Saturday that “and soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand, and gradually all the birds.” In another tweet, he added, “if a good enough X logo is posted tonight, we’ll make go live worldwide tomorrow.”
Before completing the deal to acquire Twitter, Musk told employees last June that he wanted the app to be an everything app like China’s WeChat. In April, Twitter merged with Musk’s X Corp, signalling that Musk was rebranding. Earlier in July, Musk announced the formation of xAI “to understand reality.”
Musk confirmed the company would change the bird logo to the new “X” logo in a Twitter Space. “It should have been done a long time ago, sorry it took so long,” he said when asked if Twitter was changing its logo. According to Platformer’s Zoe Schiffer, Musk emailed Twitter employees on Saturday night about the X rebrand and added that it was “the last email he’ll ever send from a Twitter email address.”
Under Musk, Twitter has undergone many changes, but a move from the company’s widely recognised bird logo will be the most famous one yet.
