Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Activision today revealed the first trailer for its next instalment in the Call of Duty series. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II arrives on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and PC via Steam on October 28th. Developed by Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare II is the sequel to 2019’s blockbuster Modern Warfare.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will pick up from where it stopped in 2019 with Task Force 141 emerging on another global campaign. The has a multiplayer as well as a new special ops experience with tactical co-op.

According to Infinity Ward, here is a description of the campaign:

The action takes players around the world as Task Force 141 works to neutralize a terrorist conspiracy and attack on the US, spanning locations around the globe. A newly aligned menace conspires to create chaos inside the US’ borders and Task Force 141 must come together against all odds.

Players will fight alongside the most iconic characters in Modern Warfare, including Captain Price, Ghost, Soap, Gaz and Laswell, as well as encounter a host of lethal new allies like Mexican Special Forces, Colonel Alejandro Vargas, and adversaries drawn from the murkiest corners of the global war on terror.”

Modern Warfare II is being revealed at a sensitive time when Russia’s war with Ukraine is still ongoing. When asked if any Russian mission will be included in the game, an Activision spokesperson commented: “No. There are NPC civilians in the game, but you will be penalized for friendly fires. If civilians are caught in the crossfire, players will automatically get a mission fail.” While also speaking to the press ahead of the reveal, Infinity Ward co-studio head Patrick Kelly said, “we’re telling fictional stories. But it is inspired by real-world military events that shape the world we live in. This is a sensitive one for me because with the events going on in the world, the war on Ukraine, it’s important to me that we be sensitive on this one.”

Modern Warfare II launches on October 28th on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X / S, Xbox One and PC via Steam. Pre-order is open and it offers an Open Beta Early Access.
