OPPO A92 Review: Premium Look, Great Performance

OPPO A92 is the latest device from global smartphone maker OPPO to be unveiled in the Nigerian market. The device feels premium out of the box and it is available in two colours, a Twilight Black and an Aurora Purple. Both give a glow reminiscent of a changing polar sky.

Ever since OPPO made a debut in Nigeria, they’ve churn out some good devices. OPPO A92 combines good features with great performance at a decent pricing point. Design and Display

OPPO A92 has a 3D quad-curve design and it feels very good to hold. The phone is quite lightweight weighing 192g and measuring 8.9mm in thickness. It is made up of a polycarbonate body, which feels very sturdy. At the back is a constellation colour scheme which when tilted brings out a variation of colours, which shines through and looks very pleasing to the eye.

The quad camera at the back has a C-shaped layout, which houses all the four cameras and the LED Flash. Unlike the Reno3 Pro, which has an in-display fingerprint scanner, the one on the A92 is side-mounted. The side-fingerprint button also serves as the wake and power button.

In terms of display, OPPO A92 has a massive 6.5” immersive display with FHD+ resolution. It features the regular 60Hz screen refresh rate and you won’t really notice any lag except you are running a very high-intensive graphics application which takes advantage of a high frame rate. In terms of GPU, it comes with an Adreno 610, which delivers rich and powerful graphics.

Hardware and Software

OPPO A92 is quite a workhouse. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset with an 8GB RAM size. It comes with a 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage and there is a microSD slot for you to expand further. This specification is enough to run your graphics-intensive application or top gaming apps on the smartphone.

On the software side, this device ships Android 10 out of the box based on OPPO’S ColorOS 7.1, which is one of the best custom UIs on Android smartphones. There is a lot of customizations you can carry out on the device based on icon styles and the overall look of the user interface.

Camera Performance

This smartphone balances out on all departments but its camera features are one of its strongest points. At the back, it is equipped with a quad camera setup, which is made up of a 48MP f/1.7 main shooter, 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, 2MP portrait lens and a 2MP depth sensor. For videos, both cameras are equally good. The rear camera is equipped with Electronic Image Stabilization and it shoots 4k videos at 30fps, you can go slow-mo with 1080p at 120fps, that’s very impressive. The front camera also shoots 1080p videos at 30fps.

Battery Life

OPPO A92 comes with a 5,000mAh battery and it is powered through a USB-C port, which supports 18W fast charge. The battery takes like 2hrs to charge fully from 0 – 100% but you could go 2days without charging it because it lasts very long.

Verdict

This is a smartphone that is well balanced in all departments; it has a good rear camera and a strong battery life. It ticks all the boxes and there are only few shortcomings, which is negligible. If you are looking for a good smartphone to buy in the market, you should go for this.
