Android phone maker OnePlus will no longer release new products in the US and Europe.

“After careful assessment, OnePlus will no longer launch new products in Europe and North America. All users’ rights and interests, including after-sales support and software updates, will remain fully guaranteed,” the company said in a statement to TechCrunch on Thursday.

According to Bloomberg, the company is also shutting down its operation in India but will continue to operate in China. The move is part of a restructuring from its parent company, Oppo, amidst slow demand for new devices in the aforementioned markets.

A recent report by analytics firm Counterpoint revealed that Oppo suffered a massive decline in smartphone shipments year-over-year in key markets due to poor demand. Hardware manufacturers continue to face constraints due to the global memory chips crisis.

Oppo will continue to make OnePlus available in China and plans to sell Realme phones internationally in Nordic regions, where it has enjoyed success, as per the Bloomberg report.

Founded in China by Pete Lau and Carl Pei in 2013 on the premise of making affordable Android phones with high-end specs, OnePlus would later expand globally as demand for its products increased, leading to an increase in the price of its flagships.
