Business and Technology are distant relatives in Nigeria. The only time business and technology get tangled in commercial business services is using a computer. That’s the closest businesses can get to technology. The world is going mobile; about everything is digitized. In Nigeria, an average Smartphone user spends most of the time on the internet, either checking up on blogs, news, social apps, online gaming and the list keeps on growing.
It is right that you keep pace with this transition. If you are not, then you should rethink the potential opportunities your business is missing. There is a revolutionary transition in the way people access the internet. Also, it seems the inclination of Internet users towards mobile has been evident that internet experts fear the desktop version, in the near future, would be obsolete.
While keeping this change in mind, organizations through mobile applications have strategized their business approach and have closed the rift caused by communication gap between organizations and customers. Again, the shift has made organizations make do with mobile app development services to produce a better image of their business to their clients. However, it turns out that Nigerian businesses are not willing to invest in a movement that is profitable to business of all kinds.
To give you a clear picture, let me present you a statistical graph that shows the growth of mobile consumers in past years. For example, in 2015, Statista, reported a 33.4% of all website traffic was generated through mobile devices, an increasing figure of 28.9% in the previous year proves that the number will only keep multiplying.
The alarming rate at which Banks in Nigeria make use of mobile apps to reach the ends meet of their customers is a clear indication that mobile apps have become paramount especially when you are planning to expand your business scale.
In like manner, bloggers too, have started creating mobile apps to have more traffic sources which make blogs less dependent on search engine traffic.

Why Should You Jump on the Idea of Mobile Apps?
MOBILE AND BUSINESS
Before Mobile Apps became popular, People had thought mobile apps were, in fact, for the big guns but this train of thought is now a thing of the past. While this may be true, in the grand scheme of things, almost any kind of business whether small, mid-scale or large scale are having their business apps. As a result, companies are capable of offering excellent services to their clients in the best possible ways.
It is, however, not wrong to say that having a website on Social media platform like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, etc. is not enough if you want to thrive in a competitive market. Although having a mobile app is not an assurance your business will flourish, you can get your business on the right track.
Have all the Momentum you need
From the onset of business ideas, entrepreneurs are faced with the potential risk of failing to get ROI. On the other hand, mobile applications can be a resource to drive more traffic and customer’s attention, the end product is more inflow of revenue. With appropriate planning, coupled with mobile applications, you can move your business in the right direction. Through mobile apps, you can ride your business towards gateways that hold unexplored possibilities.
MARKET MORE EFFECTIVELY
The most important factor is whether or not you can take advantage of four core functionalities that should be part of marketing strategies for your business. They are:

- Online Sales
If you can provide your customers with these four key factors, then you are sure of garnering ROI. Besides, customer satisfaction is a decisive factor if you are to succeed in the field of your business.
Developers should incorporate all these factors to make a highly functional mobile app that will please consumers in all aspects.
BUILD BRAND RECOGNITION
You will agree that building a brand is strenuous right? Well, the good news is, apps can either create a negative or positive impact on users. To increase the customer experience, you should focus on enhancing user experience with your app and the brand image will take care of itself. Furthermore, creating an efficient app with fast loading time and great user experience would give user reasons for coming back. Find the fastest way to attend to your clients need, in turn, you will make them happy while they will keep coming for more.
INCREASE CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT
Customer engagement is the least ROI factor overlooked in Nigeria. But as they say “the devil is in the small details.” Customer engagement is often overlooked especially in Nigeria. Where customers are being treated little or no value, big business ventures have missed out on lucrative contracts. So of course, customer engagement is a decisive factor that would help maximize your business.
If you have an app, then customers will always be inclined to use the mobile app. Being unreachable, you run the risk of losing loyal customers. In order to thrive in the competitive market business, you have to understand the nuts and bolts of mobile applications. The fact is, mobile app development is moving at a slow pace. However, recent developments in the budding tech sector have seen many innovative apps emerge and lots affordable phones emerge. The Like of Tecno and Infinix have created a permanent home for mobile apps to thrive in the corners of a developing world. It’s only logical you make hay where the sun is about shine.

Although I agree with most of the things you made mention of, Mobile apps can’t do much to help your business in Nigeria.
Just imagine how hard it is of thinking of creating app for your business when you are searching for a venture capitalist to invest in your start up.
Of course, mobile apps can increase your ROI and everything but in Nigeria the chances are kind of slim..
Nice article thou.
Nice observation Luke.
I believe mobile apps can help established businesses in Nigeria and not startups. Like you pointed out, Startups are looking for investors and ways to get their business up and running before thinking about anything else.
Over 70% of internet users today user their mobile devices to access the internet, having a mobile app will really help in maximizing ROI.
The Admin has given the best reply to your answer luke cage. When it comes to leveraging mobile apps for business, it’s either the customers will use it or won’t. I shouldn’t deter you nevertheless.
Of course Nigerians are yet to fully tap into Mobile apps potential, but the resurgence of Nigerian app developers like Maliyo is prove that Mobile app is the next big thing.
.
Some few year ago mobile apps were just making calls in Nigeria. Fast forward to now, businesses have taken to social apps like whatsapp to make business deals.
using mobile apps to maximize business ROI, too, in due time will have that appeal. It’s just but a matter of time.
Good points, and as the Admin has said, mobile app isn’t for start-ups. Also your brand must already have loyal customers that are willing to adopt your new product before you call in developers to start building a mobile app for your business. New customers or one time or two-time customers will never use your mobile app. So, personally, I believe mobile is for engagement with old loyal customers
