Dimensity 900 is MediaTek’s latest 5G chipset designed for midrange smartphones. The chipset is built on a 6nm process and is an upgrade over the Dimensity 800 series featuring a faster CPU and improved connectivity options.
The chipset has an octa-core CPU with two clusters – one with two Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.4GHz for power and six Cortex-A55 units running at 2 GHz for efficiency. It supports up to 108MP of camera resolution and is capable of up to 4k at 30fps video recording.
In terms of display, it supports FHD+ screens at 120Hz refresh rate and smartphones that ship with the chipset can have LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
In terms of connectivity, the Dimensity 900 supports Dual 5G which means phones with Dual SIM can have two 5G networks operating at the same time.
MediaTek did not say when we can expect to start seeing it on smartphones but it is expected to be around soon.
