Instagram is finally letting its users edit comments. The Meta-owned company announced the update on Thursday.

After posting comments, users will now have a 15-minute window to make whatever edits they want as many times as possible. People viewing the comment section will be able to see that the comment has been edited, but Instagram is not adding an edit history, which means people won’t be able to see the original comment after the edit has been made.

Instagram allows users to post comments with photos and GIFs, but only the text comments can be edited. Any photo or GIFs accompanied by the text comment cannot be edited. Users still have the option to delete their comments entirely.

It looks like Instagram has been experimenting with the feature over the past couple of weeks. Reddit users reported having the feature before it was announced officially on Thursday.

On Thursday, the Meta-owned company also announced the expansion of its revamped Teen accounts, after taking inspiration from 13+ movie ratings criteria and parent feedback. In October 2025, Instagram began the roll out in the UK, US, Australia, and Canada.
