At the just concluded Facebook F8 Developer Conference, Facebook (the parent company of Instagram) has announced the Instagram offline mode as the new feature coming to the application. This feature will definitely be rolled out to all Instagram-compartible OSes, but for now it is the Android OS users that will first enjoy this feature.
If you are already running the latest version of Instagram, you would have noticed that you can now save draft and queue up photo for upload – – those features are sort of offline mode, but when this offline functionality finally rolls out to Android phones, you would be able to like, comment, follow and unfollow on Instagram, without Internet.

This doesn’t mean you would be able to stream your picture feed without Internet – – of course, you would be needing Internet to do that. The offline mode would just allow you to do the above listed tasks offline, and when you are connected to Internet, the tasks would run.
To make the offline mode more enjoyable, Instagram would also be cacheing your most view profiles and the Explore tab; this would make you be able view the profiles while offline and explore them to some lenght.
According to Facebook, the aim of the Instagram offline mode is to make people living in countries with poor internet do more with the photo sharing application. The offline mode has started rolling out in some countries, and in time, all Android phones and iPhones would get it.
