Turn off the decoder at the plug. Remove the Smartcard from the slot and clean gently with a soft cloth. Slide the card (with the chip facing down) into its slot and switch on the decoder. If you still have an error message, take your decoder to your local DStv dealer.

E06 – Smartcard fault – Cannot Read

The Smartcard might have been placed wrongly into the slot.

How to Clear this Message

Turn off the decoder at the plug. Remove the Smartcard from the slot and clean gently with a soft, dry cloth. Slide the card (with the chip facing down) into its slot and switch on the decoder. If you still have an error message, take your decoder to your local DStv dealer.

E07- Checking Smartcard

This error message should disappear within 30 seconds. But if it doesn’t, use the following steps.

E16 – Service is Currently Scrambled

Connection to the DStv service has been temporarily suspended.

On your DSTV remote controller, press the Menu button and 4 to check your mail messages. If you have a DSTV message that tells you to renew your subscription, then payment needs to be made before you can receive channels.

But if your subscription is still valid, then text E16 and your Smart Card number to 32472 or locate My Account to remove the error message.

Ensure Smartcard is inserted in the decoder

The Smartcard might be missing from its slot or wrongly placed.

E19 – Service is Currently Scrambled. Please Wait

You will have to wait for a few minutes for your subscription status to be confirmed. If the waiting time exceeds two minutes, contact a DStv Call Centre.

E34 – Cannot Read Smartcard

E45 – Service Not Allowed

E50 – No services available

There are no channels in the bouquet you chose. Select another package to remove this message.

E70 – Services not available on TV2

No channel in the bouquet you have chosen or the channel is not available on your secondary viewing environment.

E71 – Song title and artist info not available

You cannot view the song title and artist information on the secondary viewing environment. If you wish to check for these details, check at the primary viewing environment.

E72 – Rescan in Progress

The decoder is scanning for channels. You will have to wait for the process to end before the message clears.

E73 – TV Link Overload

There may be an improper installation of the DStv Service.

E74 – LNB2 overload
