Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the sequel to the initial Death Stranding, which was released in 2019, launches June 266, 2025. Game creator Hideo Kojima took the stage alongside key actors in the upcoming game, including Norman Reedus and Troy Baker, at SXSW, where a new 10-minute trailer was released.
The new trailer, including gameplay and story details, was bizarre in Kojima fashion. Fans of Kojima’s well-acclaimed Metal Gear Solid series will take note of the Solid Snake reference when Neil (played by Luca Marinelli), one of the game’s new characters, donned the famous bandana. The rest of the trailer includes familiar gameplay. It stars Higgs (Troy Baker), Same Bridges (Norman Reedus), Fragile (Léa Seydoux), Tomorrow (Elle Fanning), Heartman (Nicholas Winding Refn), and many more.
In a post on X, Kojima announced the latest trailer: “I edited it myself with the worldview, era, theme, story, characters, gameplay, music, the connection to the first game, and its evolution as a sequel in mind. I have incorporated various hints and puzzle pieces throughout.”
The game will be available for pre-order starting March 17th, before its release on June 26th. Those who pre-order will receive early access bonus content. The product lineup includes a standard edition, a digital deluxe edition, and a collector’s edition.
The collector’s edition costs a whopping $229.99 and does not include a physical game CD. However, it consists of a letter from Hideo Kojima, a 3” Dollman figurine, Art cards, and more.
Death Stranding 2 was announced in 2022 after the first game’s success. Kojima Productions and A24 studio are working on a movie adaptation based on the video game.
