First announced last fall, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is finally launching for Macs tomorrow, July 17th. The Ultimate Edition includes the base game and the Phantom Liberty expansion featuring Idris Elba as Solomon Reed. The game is launching on Apple Silicon Macs via the App Store, GOG.com, Steam, and Epic Game Store.
Developer CD Projekt Red shared system requirements and minimum specifications required for any Mac is the M1 chip, macOS 15.5, at least 16GB of unified memory, and 159GB storage space. These minimum system requirements will output the game at 30fps with a resolution of 1440×900 or 1600×900. For the recommended system requirements, you need an M3 Pro Mac with 18GB of unified memory to play at 60fps with a resolution of 1800×1125 or 1920×1080. If you want to play the game at high fidelity, you will require a Mac with an M2 Ultra or M3 Max chipset and 36GB of unified memory. This will output the game at 60fps but with a higher resolution of 2294×1432 or 2560×1440. To enjoy the game at the highest fidelity, you need a Mac with M3 Ultra or M4 Max chip with at least a 36GB of unified memory.

CD Projekt Red is including a “For This Mac” graphics preset that dynamically assigns settings and resolution to provide a balance of optimal visual display and performance based on your Mac.
The game utilises AMD FSR for upscaling and frame generation, and Apple’s MetalFX dynamic resolution also provides upscaling. Ray Tracing is not applied by default on the “For This Mac” preset, and it must be turned on manually, regardless of your Mac’s hardware capabilities. To enable medium ray tracing, you need at least an M3 Pro Mac with 18GB of unified memory. The game supports cross-progression, which means you can continue from where you left off, regardless of the platform you were playing on.
Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a significant update with patch 2.3, which adds new cars and introduces new photo mode features, so it is a good time to jump into it if you haven’t played before. The sequel to the game “Cyberpunk 2” is currently in the pre-production phase, and it is expected to take a few years before it is released.
