Yesterday, developer CD Projekt Red announced the postponement of Cyberpunk 2077 till November 19 citing bug fixes reasons. The PS5 and Xbox Series X are scheduled for a holiday 2020 release around the same time when the game comes out causing speculations among fans it could be a next-gen console release. CD Projekt Red today confirmed the game will indeed be a PS4 release.
In a tweet today, it was confirmed the PS4 and Xbox One copy will be compatible with next-gen consoles. Sony already confirmed the PS5 will be backwards compatible with over 4,000 PS4 games playable on it. Microsoft has also confirmed its Xbox Series X will be backwards compatible up to four generations of gaming.
“We are happy to confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 will be backwards compatible with both next-gen consoles! Your PS4 copy of the game will work on PS5 on launch day. Anyone who buys the game on Xbox One will be able to play their copy on Xbox Series X when the console launches too!”
Famed for making The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world RPG game from developer CD Projekt Red and it is one of the highly anticipated games of the year.
CD Projekt Red also announced the game will be getting an upgrade later to take advantage of next-gen console hardware and it will be available for free.
