Apple Unveils Siri AI, its long-awaited Siri Revamp

Apple’s revamped Siri is finally here; it’s only come two years after the company first showed off the new AI-powered Siri in 2024. On Monday at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, Apple unveiled the new Siri AI, powered by Apple Intelligence.

“Siri AI is a completely reimagined version of Siri that is more helpful, more capable, and more intelligent,” Apple shared in a press release. “With detailed, engaging responses and natural back-and-forth conversation, Siri AI helps users get more done than ever.”

The AI-powered Siri will be available in beta later this year in English alongside a dedicated app. Apple says it will expand support for more languages “quickly,” but the new Siri won’t be available in the EU in iOS and iPadOS due to the Digital Markets Act. Apple says it will “continue to engage with EU regulators on a path forward” and hopes to eventually bring the new Siri to the EU.

The revamped Siri is able to draw on personal context understanding to solve problems and specific tasks for users by delving into messages, photos, emails, and many more. With the new Siri AI, users can easily pull up a hotel confirmation number from an old email or ask Siri to find a restaurant recommendation from a friend’s message. Apple says Siri AI’s person context understanding extends to third-party apps integrated with Spotlight.

With the revamp, Siri becomes an all-round conversation AI chatbot like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. Siri AI represents a big change from what used to be only a voice assistant. On supported iPhones, the revamped Siri shows a new animation and stays in the Dynamic Island when summoned. The “Hey Siri” voice command still works, and users can also use the side button or swipe down from the Dynamic Island to start a conversation with Siri AI.

The new Siri can draft emails from scratch and also uses on-screen awareness to answer questions related to the on-screen content. Conversations with the revamped Siri can be extended with further follow-up questions into a long, rich chat.

Users of Siri AI will be able to customise how the chatbot expresses itself and control the pace of its voice to their tune. “Dictation now captures what users say as polished text with greater precision, automatically handling capitalization, punctuation, and formatting as they speak,” Apple explains in a press release.

With visual intelligence, Siri has now unlocked a new world of capabilities across the iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro. On the iPhone camera app, there is a brand new Siri mode that unlocks intelligent features when users tap the shutter button on live content.
