Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on the Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 23, 2026. Activision and Infinity Ward announced with a reveal trailer that takes the game to Korea.

The game synopsis read: “War erupts on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion that threatens to destabilize the world in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. A young squad of South Korean soldiers fight to survive on the collapsing front lines, while half a world away a vengeful Captain Price wages a personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him. As Price’s off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone’s control.”

The game will have the usual campaign and multiplayer, but the long-awaited extraction shooter mode, DMZ, also returns.

In the campaign, players are first thrown in Seoul as part of the South Korean military who must fight back against a North Korean invasion. Players also get to continue Captain Price’s story from Modern Warfare 3 after the death of General Shepherd. Lastly, players also experience the game as a member of the North Korean dictatorship.

Developer Infinity Ward says the multiplayer “delivers grounded, precise combat where fluid movement, player choice, and greater control define every engagement.” Gun Game also returns to multiplayer with a special new map in a 10v10 mode that provides randomised weapons for each round. The map has three segments, which are interchanged randomly at each round.
