Instagram is much more than just a photo sharing app, it’s a very important marketing tool with which people have gotten famous on and began their own business. There are different types of users on Instagram, we have those who get serious with the outlook of their page and those who just post anything they like and not minding the pattern.

Instagram operates in 3×3 grid layout, which means when you open the app or website and check a page, images are shown in threes on a row. The Ringer reports some selected users have started seeing the 4×4 grid layout on their pages but the feature is not permanent yet, apparently Instagram is testing out the feature and it’s only a matter of time before it becomes official.

Instagram curators or some who use their pages for businesses upload pictures in a way such that each image uploaded on the 3 grid matches each other and forms a particular image, Instagram changing to 4×4 grid layout means the whole outlook of the page is scattered and the user would have to delete all images and plan new fitting images based on the 4×4 grid layout.

Commenting in a mail to The Ringer, Instagram user Palash Prabhaker said; “I regard my Instagram as a digital representation of me, I use my account as my digital portfolio,” says Prabhaker. “Messing with the grid view would mean that I will have to curate my Instagram again from the start with a constant fear of Instagram changing the layout again.”
For people like me who rarely posts on Instagram, we have nothing to worry about as we do not care about any form of grid. Like we stated earlier, Instagram is much more than just a photo sharing app, if the 4×4 grid is eventually made official there will be initial uproar but those who live off the app will adjust to the new grid layout.
