Huawei’s effort to tackle its rivals running on mid-range Snapdragon 710 chipset is certainly underway if reports are going to by. Digitimes reports the smartphone provider is working on its own Kirin 710 CPU which is expected to be released with new devices very soon to rival its competitors running the Snapdragon 710 SOC.
Huawei’s Kirin 710 will reportedly feature the company’s own chipset architecture based on Cortex A73 CPUs which will be built using the 12nm process at Taiwan Manufacturing Company, TSMC. Its other features will include a chipped-in neural processing unit for AI capabilities.
Xiaomi, a major rival to Huawei is set to launch its Mi 8 SE with Snapdragon 710 CPU and sources expect Oppo to follow suit.
Codenamed Paris, Huawei Nova 3 is expected to be launched around July and is set to be the OEM’s first Kirin 710 powered smartphone. Nova 3 is expected to feature a 19.5:9 all-screen display which will also support the dual-lens camera.
Working on its own Kirin 710 CPU as an upgrade on its Kirin 659 makes sense as sources say Huawei Technologies will ship 140 million smartphones with 50% of it all being mid-range models. The smartphone providers’ presence in West Africa is currently not strong with the company focusing on other regions.
