ChatGPT’s popularity continues to rise meteorically since its release in 2022. OpenAI, its parent company, told Axios that the company now receives 2.5 billion prompts globally from users daily. Around 330 million of those prompts come from users in the U.S.

In December, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed that users were sending more than 1 billion queries daily to ChatGPT. It has been eight months since then, and the company has more than doubled that figure with 2.5 billion queries daily on ChatGPT.

Google remains the world’s largest search engine in terms of queries received daily, even though the Alphabet-owned company does not release daily search data. As per TechCrunch, Google gets 5 trillion queries per year, which is an average of just below 14 billion daily queries. Research from independent analysts reveals the number is somewhat accurate. NP Digital’s Neil Patel pegs that number to 13.7 billion queries for Google daily, while digital marketing companies, SparkToro and Datos, put the figure at around 16.4 billion searches per day.
