In an attempt to rival LinkedIn and rule the world completely, Facebook made it possible last Wednesday for users to apply for jobs on Facebook itself without going outside of the community. The Jobs on Facebook feature has been in testing phase for a while before now, but it has now been launched officially by Facebook. The feature was initially made available to the US and Canada, users in these countries can search or apply for jobs directly through the Facebook website or on its mobile apps.
If your Facebook’s profile page is not well organized, you might want to think twice and make changes now. Jobs will now show up in Newsfeed based on how suited a user or applicant’s profile is for the jobs. Employers will now be able to see updates from applicants if the user allows his/her Facebook posts to be seen publicly. If you are the type that post all sorts on Facebook, you might want to review your privacy settings now.
How to Apply For Jobs on Facebook
Like two or three Nigerian business have posted vacancies already. I clicked on the Apply Now button and I get taken to another window showing the full job description. You need to scroll down and click on Apply Now once again, a form pops up showing my educations details and work history as filled on my profile (this can be edited).
When you hit Send, your application gets delivered to the company as a message.
As of now, job posting and listings are free for employers to post. LinkedIn better watch out!
