Airbnb is addressing one of the major issues users have with its platform. On Monday, the company announced that, from the start, the total price of a stay (including charges such as cleaning fees) will now be displayed to users before they reach the checkout page. The total displayed price includes all fees before taxes, ensuring a level of transparency between the platform and its users.

When users browse through listings in their search results, they will now see total prices, before taxes, by default. This will help them select an accommodation that suits their budget. At the top of the search page is also a new label that reads, “Prices include all fees.”
Airbnb first introduced the total price display in select regions, including parts of Europe, Australia, Canada, and Korea, in 2019. In 2023, the company introduced an optional toggle to turn the total price display on or off before taxes in the U.S. and more than 200 countries and regions. Since its launch, the company reports that around 17 million guests have used the feature while booking a stay on the platform.
With the total price display feature now available by default globally, users can view the total price for listings in search results, allowing them to better compare options that fit their budget.
