WhatsApp is ushering in the new year by bringing new features to group chats. On Wednesday, the Meta-owned company announced it is rolling out new member tags, text stickers, and event reminders to group communications.
Starting with member tags, users can now give themselves different name tags across various WhatsApp groups. The goal is to provide more context, so group members can instantly recognise what your role is. For example, you could be “Goalkeeper” in one group, and “Anna’s Dad” in another.
For stickers, you can now easily turn words into stickers. All you have to do is simply type in any word into Sticker Search. All newly created stickers can now be added directly to your sticker packs, eliminating the need to send them in a chat first for use.
When you create and send events in group chats, you can now set custom early reminders for the invitees. Depending on the event type, invitees will get reminders relating to logistics or event information.
All these new group chat features join the existing capabilities, which include the ability to share large files up to 2GB, HD media, screen sharing, voice chats, and more.
