Twitter Makes Official Quoted Replies Feature

Twitter HQ

When Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey visited Nigeria back in November 2019 with some other executives, a lot happened. The team got the chance to meet a Nigerian who built the Quoted Replies bot on Twitter. Jack and his team were so impressed that they offered the creator a Job instantly to join the Twitter team. It was reported back then Twitter was interested in having its own native “quoted with comments” feature and it’s finally happening.

As discovered by @diviacaroline, Twitter is currently testing this feature with a small group of Twitter for iOS users. In screenshots posted by users, there is now a section under retweets, which shows. “Retweet with comments” and the number of Retweets a tweet has gotten without comments we have known over the years.

Currently, it is hard for other users to see the quoted replies on a Tweet. The account @QuotedReplies made it easy, and users only had to mention the account under the tweet they want to see the quoted comments. Another way to do this is by pasting the tweet’s URL into the search box.

There has been no official comment yet by Twitter about this, but this is expected when the feature finally rolls out officially.

UPDATE: The feature is now official and available on Twitter for iOS. It’s coming to Android shortly.
