Twitter Begins Adding View Counts to Tweets

Twitter has begun rolling out view counts to tweets, Elon Musk announced on Thursday. Otherwise known as impressions, view counts now appear on tweets on the same line as retweets and likes counts, showing how many people have seen a certain tweet.

Twitter is rolling out View Count, so you can see how many times a tweet has been seen! This is normal for video,” Musk tweeted. “Shows how much more alive Twitter is than it may seem, as over 90% of Twitter users read, but don’t tweet, reply or like, as those are public actions.”

Seeing the number of impressions on a tweet isn’t something new on Twitter, and users were able to see the analytics on a tweet by taking an extra step to tap on “View Tweet activity” on a tweet. With Twitter now putting the view count out in the open to everyone, impressions on a tweet can now be seen with the tweet at a glance.

Twitter has been rolling out a lot of new features, including a ban on links to other social media accounts, which it later reversed. The company also recently rolled out new grey and gold checkmarks and square profile pictures to differentiate accounts.
