Spotify is introducing new sound mixing tools for its “eligible Premium users”. The feature is still in beta, but it allows users to transition between tracks, customize how tracks flow together, and enhance their playlist mix with custom options for volume, EQ, and effect curves.

Eligible users with access to the feature can get started by opening a playlist. In the playlist, there is a new “Mix” button from the toolbar that automatically mixes and changes your playlist. There is an “Auto” button that creates an instant blend, which users can also use to customise their mix and create interesting transitions from one track to another. Just like DJs do, users can choose to “Fade” or “Rise” to create seamless transitions between songs to suit their style.

As part of the new mixing tools, there are custom volume settings, EQ, effects, and waveforms that users can use to track the changes they are making. Once you are done customising, you only need to hit the “Save” button to start enjoying your unique playlist. You can also collaborate with your friends who are eligible for the feature on a mixed playlist. If you are bored with your new mix, you can easily toggle it on and off by tapping on the “Mix” button.

As part of the feature announcement, Spotify says users have now created nearly 9 billion playlists on its platform.

The new audio mixing tools are rolling out to “eligible Premium users” for now. It requires the latest update of your Spotify app.
