Sony has unveiled the second-generation of its PlayStation wireless headsets – the PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge. Sony says the new headsets feature custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers that produce amazing sound separation and spatial accuracy. Thanks to larger planar drivers, the headsets create cleaner and deeper bass for gamers.
The PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge wireless headsets support PlayStation Link, providing very low latency during connection and the capability to switch seamlessly between other devices such as the PlayStation Portal remote player, PS5 consoles, PC, and Mac that support PlayStation Link.
“For crisp, in-game chat, both PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge headsets feature AI-enhanced noise rejection in their integrated mics to filter out background noises,” Sony shared in a PlayStation blog post. “Both headsets also feature an updated form factor designed for lasting comfort and durability, with rotating earcups that allow the headsets to lay flat for easier portability.”
Of the two new headsets, Sony says the Pulse Edge delivers a premium audio experience and produces double the magnetic volume of the PlayStation Pulse, thanks to the new planar magnetic drivers. It comes with built-in game audio and chat balance control for the PS5, a carrying case, and an audio jack. The Pulse Edge also comes with active noise cancellation and the option to use a hidden mic when detached.
The PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge wireless headsets will be available in White and Midnight Black. No pricing has been announced yet, but Sony says the Pulse Edge will launch in early 2027, while the PlayStation Pulse will be available in select markets this holiday season.
