Marvel’s Wolverine launches on the PS5 on September 15, and Sony has showcased an extended gameplay trailer with more than 7 minutes of action, revealing how gruesome the game is.

The extended gameplay trailer, which debuted at Tuesday’s State of Play, shows Logan, aka Wolverine, in his classic yellow and black suit, violently cutting through enemies as blood splashes all over terrifyingly. The trailer starts with Logan tailing a group of mutants that were captured by a guns-for-hire cybernetic militia, the Reavers. Logan violently tears through the militia in an attempt to free the captured mutants and even encounters one of his familiar X-Men associates, Jean Grey.

“Logan can carve into foes with special combat moves called “Techniques” such as the Tornado Spin and Bull Rush,” advanced senior community manager at Insomniac Games, Aaron Jason Espinoza, shared in a PlayStation blog post. “Meanwhile, Jean obliterates enemies with her powerful telekinetic abilities, which presents a few opportunities for Critical Strikes.”

If the game’s violence is too much for you, luckily, it can be toned down. In an interview with Eurogamer, creative director Marcus Smith confirmed, saying: “I’d be remiss not to mention we do have an accessibility feature that people can turn off the blood if that is a squeamish point to them.”

The game is now available for pre-order, and those who purchase will unlock early bonuses and PS Avatars via the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, or at participating retailers. Marvel’s Wolverine ($69.99 USD / £69.99 / €79.99 / ¥8,980) arrives September 15, 2026, on PlayStation 5.
