It’s only taken 16 years, but WhatsApp has now released a dedicated iPad app. The app is available for download from today on the App Store, bringing all the features from the iOS version to iPadOS.
WhatsApp for iPad integrates seamlessly with iPadOS. It features multitasking capabilities, including Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over, allowing users to view multiple apps simultaneously. This enables them to send messages while browsing the web or researching options for a group trip during a video or audio call with up to 32 people. WhatsApp for iPad also works seamlessly with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil, providing users with flexible ways to communicate with friends and family.
WhatsApp for iPad syncs with the iPhone, Mac and other devices thanks to Meta’s multi-device technology. All messages, calls, and media are end-to-end encrypted, just like on WhatsApp for different platforms. Chat Lock, a feature that provides an additional layer of privacy by hiding sensitive chats behind a security lock, is also available on WhatsApp for iPad.
The larger screen on the iPad makes conversations more engaging. Both the back and front cameras can be used while making video calls with up to 32 people.
WhatsApp says it’s only the beginning for the app and promises to improve it over time.
