God of War Laufey, the next mainline entry to the God of War universe, releases February 16, 2027, on the PS5. The announcement was made on Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), and it was also confirmed by the official PlayStation account on X with a short teaser.

Players can Wishlist the game, as they wait to “enter the afterlife of the gods” with Faye on 16th February 2027.

“I wanted to show an extension of this world where the characters you’ll encounter are unexpected. Laufey is a continuation of what came before and to prepare and expand what comes next,” creative director at Santa Monica Studio, Cory Barlog said at the panel.

God of War: Laufey was revealed earlier, and it will follow the journey of Faye, Kratos’ wife, in the afterlife. Faye is played by Deborah Ann Woll, the same actress who has played the role when Faye appeared in dreams to Kratos in God of War Ragnarok.

Barlog also confirmed the next Kratos-led God of War game is coming after God of War Laufey, and it connects directly to Laufey.

“Faye is, while it’s a different thing, it’s still part of the larger tapestry of what we truly really want to explore, all of these different characters in there,” Barlog said. “But there’s always going to be Kratos games, like, throughout the whole history. We’re super excited about that.”

On X, the Santa Monica Studio official account shared: “Kratos is the God of War – we have many more stories to tell with him. For now, we’re excited to take fans on a journey into the afterlife of the gods with Faye and hope you’ll come along for the ride!”
