Ahead of Gamescom 2026, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) shared a quick update about The Witcher 4. In a short video shared on X, joint CEO Michal Nowakowski said the developer is “targeting” a 2028 release window for the upcoming RPG sequel.
“The Witcher 4 features a huge and immersive open world, intense and action-packed gameplay, and a deeply impactful story that we hope will stay with you for a long time,” Nowakowski added. “I know it’s a bit of a wait, and you’d love to play it sooner–but let the team cook. It will be worth the wait.”
A new DLC, titled “Songs of the Past,” which launches in 2027, has also been announced for The Witcher 3. “We’ve got a lot of the expansion to show off, including a taste of its dark story, and the new continent it will bring.”
In a surprise, CDPR is releasing a Remastered edition of The Witcher 3. The Remastered version features an array of improvements, bringing many much-needed upgrades to the visuals, gameplay, and more after the game’s original release more than 11 years ago. The Remastered version will be a free upgrade for players who already own the game on PlayStation, Xbox Series S|X, Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.
The Witcher 4 was first revealed in a trailer during The Game Awards in December 2024. It will be an open-world RPG starring Ciri as the protagonist.
