Apple Unveils iPhone Air, Its Thinnest iPhone Ever

Apple iPhone Air

On Tuesday, Apple unveiled iPhone Air – the thinnest iPhone ever made. The iPhone is light, measuring 5.6 mm in width with a titanium frame. The new iPhone is available in four colours – space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue. Pre-orders are underway with availability to start September 19.

Apple says the iPhone Air represents a “breakthrough” in design, with “pro performance.” The iPhone Air has a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion supporting up to 120Hz refresh rate. Despite its thin frame, it has the Action button, which can be mapped to perform a variety of functions at a single click.

At the back, the iPhone Air has a single camera setup – a 48MP Fusion camera system, which Apple claims operates like four lenses. The camera can take pictures in 28mm and 35mm focal lengths, and it has a 2.0µm quad-pixel sensor for low-light shots. It is capable of 2x optical zoom, which gets you closer to your subjects. For videos, the iPhone Air can record in 4K60 fps Dolby Vision and supports Action Mode.

The iPhone Air is powered by the same A19 Pro chip, which powers the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. It features the N1 and C1X chips, which enable the latest Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Apple says the iPhone Air can deliver an all-day battery life. With iOS 26, there is a new Adaptive Power Mode, which monitors typical battery consumption and intelligently conserves power when it anticipates the battery might run low.

The iPhone Air starts at $999, and it will be available in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options.
